Our Story
Chinatown Noodle Restaurant — known to Sydneysiders simply as CNR — was born in 1991 from a passion for the bold, hearty flavours of north-western China.
Rooted in the culinary traditions of Xinjiang, our kitchen has always been about noodles made the old way: hand-pulled, thick, and ready to soak up rich broths and fragrant sauces. Our dumplings are folded to order, our braised dishes cooked low and slow — every plate carries decades of craft.
Over 30 years, CNR grew to become one of Sydney's most beloved Chinese dining institutions — a place where families return generation after generation, where the aroma of star anise and the sound of chopsticks on ceramic bowls feel like coming home.
We didn't just want to feed people. We wanted to share a piece of home — the flavours we grew up with, the warmth of a meal shared with people you love.
